Hoda Katebi

Hoda Katebi is a Chicago-based Iranian-American writer, abolitionist organizer, and creative educator. Hoda graduated from the University of Chicago in 2016 where she researched the intersections of fashion, gender, and the state in Iran. She also is the author of Tehran Streetstyle, a photography book she released in 2016 focused on radical identity reclamation through the highlighting of Iranian fashion. Hoda’s political fashion work has been recognized by VOGUE, the New York Times, BBC and other notable international publications. Beyond her activism in the fashion industry, Hoda runs the project #BecauseWeveRead, an accessible and international radical book club working to mobilize communities globally. She earned the Pioneer Award from the Chicago Foundation for Women in 2019 for her commitment to creating a better future for women and girls. Hoda was also recognized on Crain’s 20 In Their 20s list in 2018 for her efforts in challenging the way Americans think about the Iranian community and the world.
