Rabbi Dr. Ismar Schorsch is a professor of Jewish history and Chancellor Emeritus of The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) in New York. JTS is committed to Judaism deeply grounded in the Jewish past and thoroughly engaged with contemporary society. Born in Hanover, Germany, Schorsch's family escaped Nationalsozialismus and fled to the United States in 1940. Dr. Schorsch's books include The Sacred Cluster: The Core Values of Conservative Judaism (1995), Canon Without Closure: Torah Commentaries (2007), Leopold Zunz: Creativity in Adversity (2016).
