Jean M. Yarbrough is professor of government and Gary M. Pendy, Sr., Professor of Social Sciences at Bowdoin College. She is the author, most recently, of Theodore Roosevelt and the American Political Tradition (University of Kansas Press), which in 2013 won the American Political Science Association’s Richard E. Neustadt Prize for the best book on the presidency published that year.
