Jennifer Gonnerman is a journalist, currently writing for The New Yorker. Previously, Gonnerman was a contributing editor at New York magazine, and before that, she was a staff writer at the Village Voice. Gonnerman's first book, “Life on the Outside: The Prison Odyssey of Elaine Bartlett,” was published in 2005. Gonnerman received her B.A. from Columbia.
