J. has been working in and around podcasts since 2011, when he joined a podcast and video network called BreakThru Radio as Director of Video Production. In this role, among other things, he was part of the team booking and producing two live-in-studio podcasts/video series: 'BTR Live Studio' and 'Serious Business on BTR,' (1031 and 179 episodes , respectively).In 2016 he began hosting a bi-weekly podcast focused on the indie music scene in NYC/Brooklyn; it was called 'StereoactiveNYC' and ran for 72 episodes. At the same time, he co-hosted a music discovery podcast called 'The Music Digest' for 146 weekly episodes.In 2017, he became Chief Content Officer of BreakThru Radio and remained in this position through 2021 when the company closed. During his tenure, he oversaw the complete rebuilding of the company's website, CMS, and RSS distribution platform while also overseeing production of more than 30 ongoing podcasts and several video series.In the meantime, he also hosted a weekly arts and current events podcast called 'BreakThru Radio Weekly' beginning in 2017 that ran for 228 episodes and featured in-depth discussion of film, music, culture, and politics.In 2020, J. founded Stereoactive Media, where he helps to produce and release music, podcasts, and other art and media. There he's produced and edited 'When We See Each Other,' a 30 episode podcast featuring interviews with mainly black and/or LGBTQIA+ musicians; produced and edited 13 episodes of a podcast called 'Hell & Wellness' that reviewed health and wellness trends; created, produced, hosted, and edited 'Stereoactive Movie Club,' an ongoing podcast about classic movies that have appeared on Sight and Sound magazine's "greatest films" poll; produced and edited 'Kind of a Lot with Matt Ruby,' an ongoing podcast featuring essays about modern life from comedian Matt Ruby; and created, hosted, produced, and edited 'Stereoactive Presents,' an ongoing arts and culture podcast.Since 2022, J. has also worked as a contractor for Dotdash Meredith's Lifestyle Audio department. There he's worked as writer/producer on 'Lost Cultures: Living Legacies,' a history/documentary podcast for Travel + Leisure magazine; researcher/script editor on 'Biscuits & Jam' a podcast about southern food and music culture for Southern Living magazine; and as producer/editor on 'The Better Buy,' a home renovation podcast for Better Homes & Gardens.
