Jessica Wapner is a freelance science journalist. Although she focuses on biomedicine and health, she has also covered many issues in diverse topics such as technology, parenting, the search for life elsewhere in the solar system, and risk-taking.Wapner has written and edited stories for magazines such as the New Yorker, Wired, New York Times, Medium, Discover, Popular Science, Self, Scientific American, New York, The Atlantic, Slate, the Los Angeles Times, AARP, and Science. Previously, she was the science editor for Newsweek.Wapner's first book, "The Philadelphia Chromosome: A Genetic Mystery, a Lethal Cancer, and the Improbable Invention of a Life-Saving Treatment," was published in 2013.Wapner received her B.A. in Biology from Clark University.
