John Deasy is an Irish former Fine Gael politician who served as a Teachta Dála for the Waterford constituency from 2002 to 2020. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann in the 29th Dáil and retained his seat across six consecutive general elections. During his parliamentary career, Deasy held several party and committee roles, including serving as Fine Gael spokesperson on transport and as chair of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications. He was closely associated with transport policy, aviation regulation, and infrastructure oversight, and was a consistent advocate for regional connectivity and public accountability in transport agencies. Following the 2020 general election, Deasy stepped away from electoral politics after nearly two decades in national office.
