John James Faso Jr. is an American attorney and Republican politician who served as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 19th congressional district from 2017 to 2019. Elected in 2016, he previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1987 to 2002, including as Assembly Minority Leader from 1998 to 2002. Faso was the Republican nominee for New York State Comptroller in 2002 and for Governor of New York in 2006. A lawyer by profession, he has been active in both public service and private legal practice, focusing on fiscal policy, governance, and economic issues throughout his career.
