Julia Rensing, born in 1991, is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Centre for African Studies at the University of Basel, Switzerland. Her research examines discourses surrounding archives, with a focus on photographic archives and their function as sites of knowledge production and contestation. She has published work on the ways archives shape memory, history, and cultural representation, and she engages with questions of access, interpretation, and preservation within African studies.
