Karenleigh A. Overmann is a cognitive archaeologist specializing in the study of how ancient societies developed numeracy and literacy. She serves as the Director of the Center for Cognitive Archaeology at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where she contributes to interdisciplinary research on the evolution of human cognition. Overmann's work explores the relationship between material culture and cognitive development, examining how tools, writing systems, and other artifacts influenced thought processes in ancient societies.
