Karishma Patel is a journalist at the Britain Palestine Media Centre. She is a former newsreader BBC News, where she worked across the UK, South Asia, and the Middle East. Patel has been an outspoken critic of BBC's framing of Israel and Palestine, resigning in protest in 2024. In 2025 she was nominated a Miss Universe Great Britain Finalist with an aim to raise awareness around Gaza media coverage, and to fundraise for Gaza Great Minds. Patel holds a Master’s degree in English Literature, with a focus on postcolonial theory, from the University of Cambridge, and has contributed a chapter on migration literatures to 'Cultures of London: Legacies of Migration' (Bloomsbury, 2024).
