Kate Haulman is an associate professor of history at American University whose research and teaching focus on early American history, women’s and gender history, and cultural history. She is the author of The Politics of Fashion in Eighteenth-Century America, which examines how clothing and style served as arenas of political and social debate in the Revolutionary era, linking fashion to questions of identity, power, and citizenship. In addition to her scholarship, Haulman has contributed to edited collections and academic publications that explore intersections of gender, politics, and culture, and she is recognized for mentoring students in historical research and writing.
