Podcast #132 – Jason Groupp and WPPI
Podcasts – Camera Dojo
Jason Groupp has been a photographer in New York for over 20 years and I am a big fan of his work, his style, and his teaching techniques. We have had Jason on the podcast before talking about lighting and that turned out to be an extremely popular podcast. Recently, Jason has taken the position of Director for WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) which hosts a large conference in Las Vegas every winter. During this episode we talk about what WPPI is all about, who should go, and how to make the most out of an experience like this. If you are considering attending, or are on the fence, then listen to the program and see if it helps to clarify what your expectations are. Podcast Flashback – Carlos Baez

This week we flash back to early 2009 with one of the most popular podcasts in the history of Camera Dojo. In this show Kerry and David talk with Carlos Baez about the recent controversy over the new video called Engage (http://engagingfilms.com), using specialty lenses, getting started with lighting, trends in wedding photography, staying inspired, and much more. Carlos lays down the challenge to Camera Dojo listeners to post images taken with a single light source. To submit your images, add them to the comments on this page. Podcast #131 – Eric Cheng from Lytro
Podcasts – Camera Dojo
I recently received a Lytro camera as a Christmas gift and have become rather impressed with the technology although the images are not quite professional grade images yet. (Read: My first impressions of the Lytro camera) To help explain what the Lytro camera is and how it works, we invited Eric Cheng, Director of Photography for Lytro to join us on the program. (Image shot by Thomas Hawk). Eric talks in detail about the history of light field photography and how they developed the technology for consumer use. It’s obvious Lytro has big plans in store for the technology and this podcast will give you some insight as to where this technology can take photography. Continue reading to see examples of images taken with the Lytro camera. Podcast #130 – Jerry Dodrill from MindShift Gear
Podcasts – Camera Dojo
Jerry Dodrill is an award-winning adventure and landscape photographer who early in his career was a protégé of legendary photographer Galen Rowell. An unrelenting passion for outdoor adventures made it clear that Jerry was not destined for a desk job – the successful career he has built fosters a lifestyle that the average person might call unconventional. Jerry is also one of the brains behind a new camera bag company called MindShift Gear that is designing camera bags specifically for outdoor use. During the show we talk about the new gear but also how and why they used Kickstarter to launch the company.
