Kevin O'Leary is a Canadian businessman, television personality, and actor widely known as Mr. Wonderful. He co-founded SoftKey Software Products, a family education and entertainment software firm that became a major consolidator in the educational software market during the late 1980s and 1990s. Through acquisitions including Compton's New Media, the Learning Company, and Broderbund, the company expanded rapidly before rebranding as The Learning Company. In 1999, the company was sold to Mattel in a deal that generated approximately six million dollars for O'Leary and later led to shareholder litigation tied to post-acquisition losses.
