LaNisa Renee Frederick is an award-winning actor, writer, content creator, podcast host, and voiceover artist based in Los Angeles.
A comedic force, she’s appeared in Brooklyn 99, Young Sheldon, The Goldbergs, and the Emmy-winning A Black Lady Sketch Show. LaNisa trained at The Second City Chicago and performed nationally at the Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf, Woolly Mammoth, and internationally in Europe and Southeast Asia.
She’s the co-creator of Hashtag Booked, the viral Instagram sketch series spotlighting the realities of actresses of color in Hollywood. Since its 2018 launch, the series has reached millions and earned praise from Forbes, Essence, and CNN.
A commercial standout, LaNisa has starred in 60+ national spots alongside Kevin Hart, Queen Latifah, and Amy Poehler. Her voiceover credits include Baby Shark (Nickelodeon), Ada Twist (Netflix), Interrupting Chicken (Apple TV), League of Legends, The Walking Dead, and fan-favorite “Syd” in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
As a writer, she has written for Disney JR and is in development for multiple projects, including an adult animation and a semi-biographical show about her upbringing in a doomsday cult.
In 2025, she debuted Black and CULTivated, a comedy podcast giving voice to Black and Brown cult survivors like herself, met with powerful, wide-reaching praise.
LaNisa holds a BA from Loyola University Chicago and an MA from the University of Essex, with training at Steppenwolf Theatre under mentors like Amy Morton and Sheldon Patinkin.
