Lara Vapnyar is a writer and teacher. Currently, she teaches fiction writing at New York University. Vapnyar's work has appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s Magazine, Open City magazine, and Zoetrope: All Story. She has published four novels and two collections of short stories. Vapnyar emigrated to the United States from Russia in 1994.
