Dr. Lee E. Gray is a professor of architectural history at the College of Arts + Architecture, and Interim Senior Associate Provost at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Gray's first book, "From Ascending Rooms to Express Elevators: A history of the Passenger Elevator in the 19th Century," was published in 2002. He is a regular columnist for Elevator World.
