Dr. Leslie Jean Reagan is a historian who specializes in the history of American medicine and public health, women, gender, and sexuality, disabilities, visual culture, and 20th century U.S. social history. Currently, she is a Professor of History at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Reagan's first book, "When Abortion Was a Crime: Women, Medicine, and Law in the United States, 1867-1973," was published in 1997. Her second book, "Dangerous Pregnancies: Mothers, Disabilities, and Abortion in Modern America," was published in 2010.
Reagan received her B.A. in Economics with a minor in History from the University of California Davis, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in American History from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
