As the Magnitude.io Vice President for Learning Experiences, Lori Waters is actively engaged in advancing STEAM education for students of all ages through Earth and Space Science project-based learning experiences.As a Florida Professional Certified Educator, Waters taught Earth and Space Science, Biology, AP Environmental Science, and general education subjects. She has teaching experience in a range of learning environments including the formal classroom, homeschool setting, and informal programs, including the Orlando Science Center, after-school clubs, and distance learning. She is a graduate of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s Space Academy for Educators and Space Center Houston’s Space University for Educators. In 2019, she received the Foundation Academy Principal’s Award for her innovative inquiry-based science instruction. Waters brings twenty years of experience to the Magnitude.io team across the fields of education, public relations, government relations, and space science.She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Furman University, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a Science Teaching Graduate Certificate from the University of Florida. She is currently enrolled in the University of North Dakota Space Studies Masters of Science program. As a graduate research fellow, she studied food crop production for long-duration space missions. In summer 2020, she completed a teaching internship with the NASA Ames GeneLab for High Schools program. During the HI SEAS Selene IV Lunar Analog mission in March 2021, she served as the Crew Operations Officer as well as conducted plant research. When not growing plants, you can find her running and cycling on the trails in Central Florida.
