Lynda Nead is a British art historian and academic known for her work on visual culture, gender, and modern British art. She is emeritus professor of history of art at Birkbeck, University of London. Her research examines representations of women, sexuality, and urban life in nineteenth and twentieth century Britain. She has written several influential books on art and visual culture, including studies of the female nude and Victorian painting. Her book British Blonde: Women, Desire and the Image in Post War Britain, published by Yale University Press in 2025, explores media imagery, femininity, and popular culture in postwar Britain.
