Maia Ipp is a writer of fiction and cultural criticism. She was one of the editors who relaunched the historic leftist magazine Jewish Currents in 2018, where she is now a contributing editor. Since 2014, she's visited and occasionally lived in Central and Eastern Europe, including a year in Krakow on a writing fellowship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and several long stints in Berlin. She received her MFA from Columbia University, where she held a De Alba fiction fellowship. She co-founded the New Jewish Culture Fellowship, which was recently featured in Artforum. She spent six years at City Lights Books as a bookseller and editor and occasional assistant to Lawrence Ferlinghetti. She is working on her first novel, SUGAR TRUCK.
