Marc Mierowsky is a historian of early modern Britain whose research examines intelligence networks, political intrigue, and the formation of the British state. He is the author of *A Spy Amongst Us: Daniel Defoe's Secret Service and the Plot to End Scottish Independence*, published by Yale University Press in 2026. The book investigates Daniel Defoe’s work as a government agent in the years surrounding the 1707 Act of Union, drawing on archival sources to trace covert operations, propaganda efforts, and political surveillance. Mierowsky’s scholarship explores espionage, print culture, and state power in seventeenth and eighteenth century Britain.
