Mario Alejandro Ariza is an investigative journalist and a poet. Currently, he reports for Floodlight news, where he writes about climate change and the people responsible for it.
Previously, he was an investigative reporter at the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Ariza's poetry has appeared in BOAAT, The Cincinnati Review, Gulf Coast, and The Raleigh Review. His journalism appears in places like The Atlantic and The Miami New Times. His non-fiction writing has appeared in The Baffler, and South of the South.
Ariza's first book, "Disposable City: Miami’s Future on the Shores of Climate Catastrophe," was published in 2020.
Ariza received his M.A. in Hispanic Cultural Studies from Columbia University, and an M.F.A. in poetry from the University of Miami.
