Marisa Silver is an author, screenwriter, and film director. She also teaches at The MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College.
Silver began her career working on documentary films, then she wrote a screenplay for a feature-length fiction film, which was produced and went on to win the Grand Jury Prize Dramatic at the Sundance Film Festival. She directed three more feature films, then left that career to become a full-time writer.
Silver's short fiction has been published in The New Yorker. Her first book, the collection, "Babe in Paradise," was published in 2001. She has since published a second collection and four novels.
