Mary Steffenhagen is a freelance journalist, audio producer, and fact-checker. She produced the podcast "The Devil You Know. " Previously, Steffenhagen was a producer for the WNYC show, "The Takeaway." She was a disinformation researcher for NewsGuard and a fact-checker for the podcast "Ghost Church." She also interned at Salon and Coda Media, where she helped produce a weekly news podcast. Steffenhagen's reporting on labor organizing, local politics, and social activism has been published by outlets including Teen Vogue, City Limits, and WBAI. She reported the investigative series, “When Home is School,” published by Chalkbeat, which was also made into an audio documentary.
