Dr. Melani McAlister is a Professor of American Studies and International Affairs at George Washington University. Her research focuses on the ways in which cultural and political history intersect, and on the role of religion and culture in shaping US “interests” in other parts of the world.In addition to academic papers and book chapters, McAlister's work has appeared in Christianity Today, The Conversation, Washington Post, The Atlantic, and The Nation. She has co-edited five textbooks on international affairs. Her first general-audience book, "The Kingdom of God Has No Borders: A Global History of American Evangelicals," was published in 2018.McAlister received her B.A. in Middle East International Studies fropm University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and her Ph.D. in American Civilization from Brown University.B.A., summa cum laude, International Studies (Middle East), UNC - Chapel Hill, 1984.
