Michael Fakhri is an expert on human rights, international trade, food law, development and commercial law. In 2020 he was named the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food. He is also a law professor at the University of Oregon, and member of the university's Environmental and Natural Resource Program and Food Resiliency Project. Fakhri's scholarly writing including the book “Sugar and the Making of International Trade Law.” He investigates key environmental and policy issues relating to all stages of the food system, including production, transportation, packaging and consumption.
