Miki Eleonora Berenyi is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist best known as a member of the alternative rock band Lush and currently a member of Piroshka.
In this episode I get to talk to Miki from LUSH. Miki gives us a great incite into what it was like trying to break the US and returning to an ever changing music scene in the UK. Miki on TwitterPiroshkaLUSH FBBuy buy me a coffee on ko-fi hit the link below;ko-fi.comBack to BritPop on the socials;TwitterFacebookInsta
This show is different from anything I’ve done before. I reached out to several former guests of the podcast and asked if they would be willing to talk for just a few minutes about how COVID-19 has affected their professions. I’m joined by people from a wide variety of creative careers. There’s guitarist Buck Curran, who lives at the European epicenter of the virus, Bergamo, Italy. I’m also joined by Miki Berenyi and Moose McKillop of Lush, Moose, and Piroshka; Chef Celina Tio of Top Chef, Iron Chef America & her restaurant, The Belfry; Gaby Alter who writes musical theater; Allen Epley of The Life and Times and The Blue Man Group; Leon McKenzie of SureSports; Writer & guitarist for The Lilacs, Ken Kurson; and road veteran, singer/songwriter/guitarist Morgan Geer. I’d like to thank them all for giving me more of their time and for their candor. We start off with Buck Curran from Bergamo, Italy. Intro and Interstitial music by Buck Curran. This week we spend time with Miki Berenyi of Piroshka. You might also recognize her from her first band, Lush. Her path into music is a lot different from most. She talks about working with Robin Guthrie, touring with Lollapalooza in the early 90’s, & how she left music behind completely after Lush’s drummer took his own life. After a 20 year absence, Lush reunited and it lit a spark within her that really started burning with her new band, Piroshka. And we get a Moose cameo. Follow Piroshka band onsocial media.
