Myra J. is an American comedian, writer, and actress from Chicago, Illinois. She began her career in Los Angeles over two decades ago, transitioning from social services to stand-up comedy with encouragement from fellow comedian Robin Harris. Her comedic talents led to roles in films like Bulworth (1998) and voice work in Bébé's Kids (1992). As a writer, she contributed to sitcoms such as Martin, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Meet the Browns. Myra J. gained national recognition as the "Poster Child for the Single Mom" on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, where she co-created and wrote the popular radio soap opera "It's Your World". She continues to perform stand-up comedy nationwide and is actively involved in community service, volunteering at women's and children's shelters. In 2016, she received the President's Volunteer Service Award from President Barack Obama.
