Nadine Gordimer

Nadine Gordimer was a writer and political activist. Her writing dealt with moral and racial issues, particularly apartheid in South Africa. Several of her works were banned in her home country. In addition to writing, she lectured and taught at various universities in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s. She was also active in the anti-apartheid movement and in HIV/AIDS causes.Gordimer's first novel, "The Lying Days," was published in 1953. She received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1991.
