Nancy Jo Sales is an author and journalist. She currently writes for Vanity Fair.After university, Sales worked as a reporter for People magazine. She went on to become a contributing editor at New York magazine and then a contributing editor at Harper's Bazaar. She then became a writer for Vanity Fair.Her first book, "The Bling Ring: How A Gang of Fame-Obsessed Teens Ripped Off Hollywood and Shocked the World," was published in 2013. Her second book, "American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers," was published in 2016. Her documentary film, "Swiped: Hooking Up in the Digital Age," aired on HBO in 2018.Sales was raised in Miami FL and New Hampshire. She received her B.A. in literature from Yale University and her M.F.A. from Columbia University.
