Nanjira Sambuli is a Kenyan researcher, policy analyst, and strategist focused on the gendered and societal impacts of information and communications technology adoption on governance, media, entrepreneurship, and culture. She holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from the University of Nairobi and has held research and advocacy roles with organizations including the World Wide Web Foundation, where she led digital equality efforts, and iHub in Nairobi. Sambuli is a Ford Global Fellow and a fellow in the Technology and International Affairs Program at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She serves on the boards of The New Humanitarian, Development Gateway, and Digital Impact Alliance, and co-chairs the Transform Health Coalition. Sambuli has served on high-level panels for the United Nations on digital cooperation and women’s economic empowerment and advises initiatives on technology, social justice, and AI governance. Her work has been recognized by inclusion on lists such as New African Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Africans and the BBC’s 100 Inspiring and Influential Women.
