Nilz Bokelberg grew up in the Cologne area and completed his Abitur at the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium in Wesseling. Between 2003 and 2008, he studied scenic directing at the University of Television and Film Munich in Department III for Film and Television Drama. He is a lecturer for media ethics in the media management course at the SRH University of the Popular Arts in Berlin.He has a daughter (* 2001) with actress Chiara Schoras. He has been married to podcast producer Maria Lorenz since May 2020.
