Peter Berg is an American actor, director, producer, and writer. He began his career as an actor, gaining recognition for his role as Dr. Billy Kronk in the medical drama Chicago Hope (1995–1999). Transitioning to directing, Berg achieved success with films like Friday Night Lights (2004), which inspired the acclaimed television series of the same name. He directed and produced action-heavy hits such as Hancock (2008), Lone Survivor (2013), and Deepwater Horizon (2016). Berg is also known for producing the series Ballers (2015–2019) and The Leftovers (2014–2017).
