Ray Harkins is the host of The 100 words Or Less podcast that dives deep with creators of independent culture from musicians, artists and other interesting people to find out what inspires them, how they came to be and many other unexpected places.
What a Wednesday! We have Anthony from Ceremony on the show this week to discuss his bands long career, the cultivation of his early music tastes, confidence and evolution. It's a real insightful discussion about the creative process and defying expectations. Not to mention, Ceremony's new LP is incredible so check that out.
Louisville, Kentucky in the house! I spoke to Brent Mills from Greyhaven this week on the pod about that very music scene he was raised in, drug use and the idea of being "competitive" in the music industry. Even if you've never heard the band, you will find a lot of enjoyment in this chat.
A bit of a different format this week but one that I think you will enjoy. I took a look at every full-length in Earth Crisis' catalog, brought the guitarist Scott Crouse onto the podcast and took a deep dive into the mentality of where the band was at, their process and other fun stories that surrounded each of the LP's. The result is what you hear and honestly, blew my mind. So many incredible stories and anecdotes were shared that even the super fan of Earth Crisis will have no idea about. I call it a "Self Audit" and I hope to do this more.
We have a two for the price of one podcast today! For the "main" part of the podcast, I have my old friend George Pettit on the show today. He's the vocalist for the now active Alexisonfire. We hopped on the phone one day (some dodgy cell service up in Canada) and discussed his life as a firefighter, being a reluctant frontman and the importance of obsession. Before that discussion, I have Dan Thomson from Sparrows on. They are a great hardcore band that deserves your attention. Enjoy the supersized episode!
I am pleased to bring you this great chat with my friend Lance Wells who is the vocalist of Las Vegas hardcore band Faded Grey. If you have never listened to them, rectify that immediately. We get in deep with skating as a gateway, desert life and the Army of Kids. Lance opened up a lot and I was very happy to have this conversation. Enjoy!
