Sam Thompson co-created Witchpolice as an archive of local music back in 2009 and has been the primary host of the podcast/radio show since its inception in 2012. He was the frontman for cult noise-punks The Mouth-Boat and played guitar in '90s ska act Grandpa's Army, among other projects. Sam has written about music for various publications at home and abroad, was a founding committee member of the Winnipeg Ska and Reggae Festival (which ran from 2007-10) and is currently educating his two children about early dancehall records.

You haven’t heard of him, but you really, really should. We talked about his excellent new record, the traditional inspiration behind his songwriting, why he isn’t better-known at home in Winnipeg, and much more! This episode is brought to you by our friends at the Park Theatre. Buy a gift card to help keep them afloat during these difficult times! Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon. Guests Anthony Carvalho Manager of 3Peat. 4th Quarter Records. Rap dad. linktr.ee Tony4QR (@tony4qr) on Twitter Mooki West End. Rap. Breaking. mooki (@mookiwitnoe) • Instagram photos and videos It’s a new episode with West End rapper Mooki, alongside 4th Quarter Records majordomo Anthony Carvalho. We talked about Mooki’s brand new BBS Steve-produced tape, about his background in the local breakdancing scene, and much more. There are a few audio glitches on this one — a hazard of doing remote interviews, and I’m about due, as the last few have been pretty flawless — but the conversation was very interesting and worth your time. Guest SeanGeek Podcast Geek dads talk Geek Culture on the way home from work. Recorded in the raw just like real life is. Sean McGinity - Podcast, Music, Writing SeanGeek Podcast (@SeanGeekPodcast) on Twitter I linked up with the McGinity brothers from Winnipeg’s SeanGeek Podcast for an episode! We talked about their long-running show, their background in the local music scene (I was initially supposed to interview them years ago about their band Dome, but the band broke up before the podcast happened), hate mail, and a whole lot more! If this is your first episode of Witchpolice Radio… please note that we don’t usually get so ‘inside baseball’ about podcasting – but this is a fun interview that covers that as well as their involvement in Winnipeg music. This episode is brought to you by our friends at the Park Theatre, and by Trevor Fisher of Way2Wealth Management. Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon. You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case!
