Samuel R. Delany is an author and literary critic. His work includes fiction (especially science fiction), memoir, criticism and essays on science fiction, literature, sexuality, and society.Delaney's work has received the four Nebula Awards, two Hugo Awards, the Kessler Award, the J. Lloyd Eaton Lifetime Achievement Award in Science Fiction. and the Anisfield-Wolf Lifetime Achievement Award.He was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2002, named a Science Fiction Writers of America Grand Master in 2013, and inducted into the New York State Writers Hall of Fame in 2016.From 1975 until his retirement in 2015, Delaney was a professor of English, Comparative Literature, and Creative Writing at SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Albany, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Temple University.
