Shola Lawal is an independent filmmaker and freelance journalist. Currently, she is a correspondent for the newspaper The Mail & Guardian. Her work focuses on development issues, women and the environment. Previously, Lawal was a video producer with the Nigerian media company Zikoko. Lawal has reported from Ghana, Togo, and Finland, and from the Nigerian/Cameroonian border. Her work has appeared in Al Jazeera, TRT World and IRIN News. Lawal received her B.A. and her M.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
