Stacia L. Brown is a writer. She is currently a weekly contributor for The Washington Post.After university, Brown worked as an adjunct writing professor while working as a freelance writer. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, New Republic, Rolling Stone, and The Atlantic.Brown was the creator and producer of the radio and podcast "Baltimore: The Rise of Charm City." She also wrote and narrated "Hope Chest," a collection of audio essays written to her daughter.Brown also founded Beyond Baby Mamas, an online community dedicated to single mothers of color.Brown was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her B.A. in English from Trinity College (now Trinity Washington University), and her M.F.A. in fiction from Sarah Lawrence College.
