Steve Garvey is a former professional baseball player known for his successful career as a first baseman, primarily with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres in Major League Baseball (MLB). Debuting in 1969, Garvey quickly became a standout player, earning 10 All-Star selections, four Gold Glove Awards, and the 1974 National League (NL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award. A key figure in the Dodgers' lineup, he helped the team reach four NL pennants and win the 1981 World Series. Garvey is also remembered for his durability, playing in a record 1,207 consecutive games for the NL. He retired with over 2,500 hits.
