Before becoming an award-winning filmmaker, Susie majored in communications and journalism at UCLA where she wrote for the Daily Bruin. During that time, she and another singer/actress formed a pop band called Too Chix (Two Chicks). Chuck Lorre, (before he was the “Chuck Lorre” - the writer, producer and composer, called the "King of Sitcoms") produced the duo. They recorded two of Lorre’s songs, Bad Dream in Hollywood (on Rhino Records) and French Kissing (in the USA) which both were moderate hits before the group fell apart.Susie began her current career writing and producing 26 episodes of the tween competition show, DANCE REVOLUTION, while writing, producing, and co- directing 13 half-hour episodes tween show CAKE (nominated for an Environmental Media Award) for CBS's Saturday morning block. At the same time.Susie moved into features writing and producing BRATZ: THE MOVIE starringJanel Parrish (PRETTY LITTLE LIARS), Jon Voight (RAY DONOVAN) and LoganBrowning (DEAR WHITE PEOPLE) for Lionsgate. Although Susie wrote the finalscreenplay for Bratz the Movie, she lost her credit in Writers Guild arbitration to the bewilderment of the producers and director. Her name appears as screenwriter on the final movie poster. She also forfeited her Associate Producer title when she entered into an appeal which resulted in the loss of both credits.After BRATZ, Susie garnered the attention of Fox Television Studios and was given a blind script deal which culminated in the animated pilot, SURVIVING HAWKING, also directed by Susie and starring Bryan Cranston (BREAKING BAD) and Adam Brody (THE O.C.).Susie went on to co-produce the critically acclaimed SOUL SURFER for Sony starring Dennis Quaid (AMERICAN CRIME STORY) and Helen Hunt (AS GOOD AS IT GETS). She followed that writing the screenplay for the animated musical TWINKLE TOES LIGHTS UP NEW YORK for Skechers.In 2017, Susie attracted an outpouring of positive reaction from audiences all over the world as well as the entertainment industry writing, producing, directing and acting in her first short film, MY MOM AND THE GIRL starring Valerie Harper (RHODA) and Liz Torres (GILMORE GIRLS). The film is a “joyous look at Alzheimer’s” which has screened at over 50 film festivals worldwide and earned dozens of major awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress. Best Ensemble, to name a few) that led to an Oscar Qualified status. The film has worldwide distribution and was the centerpiece of a national Mother’s Day campaign for Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles and UsAgainstAlzhiemer’s.It also was signaled out by KCET and was chosen to participate in the prestigious Fine Cuts program airing October 17, 2018. The film is also available on ShortsTV, iTunes, Google, and Amazon Prime. TRAILERSusie also wrote and directed two documentaries, BREAKING GOOD and WOMEN WHO WROTE THE WAY, honoring trailblazing female writers who have been responsible for cracking the glass ceiling, which both premiered at the Writers Guild of America for Women’s History Month.Susie recently finished the screenplay, PLAIN JANE, adapted from the bestseller of the same name and is attached to direct. Anthony Katagas (Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture for 12 YEARS A SLAVE) is attached as Executive Producer.In 2019, Susie launched the podcast, LOVE CONQUERS ALZ. Susie has just completed writing, producing, and co-hosting her 38th episode.
