Tanith Lee Kaiine, who published under the name Tanith Lee, was a British science fiction and fantasy writer known for her prolific output and distinctive contributions to speculative literature. Born in London, she began publishing professionally in the late 1960s and went on to write more than 90 novels and over 300 short stories across fantasy, science fiction, horror, and gothic fiction. Her notable works include the Tales from the Flat Earth series, the Death’s Master cycle, and the novel Death of the Necromancer. Lee received multiple World Fantasy Society Derleth Awards, the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement in Horror. In 1980, she became the first woman to win the British Fantasy Award for best novel.
