Ted Alvarez is an adventure travel writer. He is the Network Editor at Outside Magazine and the Northwest editor of Backpacker Magazine. He host of the "The Explorist" podcast. Alvarez's writing has appeared in Outside, Men's Health, Skiing, Alaska Beyond, Crosscut, Mountain, The Vail Daily, Rollingstone, The Boulder Daily Camera, Gear Patrol, New West, Budget Living, Westword, SEED, Scientific American's 60-Second Science, and other publications. His asrticle "The Truth About Bears" was a finalist for the 2014 National Magazine Award. His first book, "The National Parks Coast to Coast: 100 Best Hikes," was published in 2016. Alvarez received his B.A. in Journalism, Spanish, and Psychology from Syracuse University.
