Trudi Canavan is a fantasy fiction author. She is best known for her trilogies The Black Magician and Age of the Five. Before becoming a full-time writer, Canavan was a graphic designer. In 1995 she started a freelance graphic design business, began editing for the fantasy and science fiction magazine Aurealis, and began writing in her spare time.
