Dr. William Davies is a sociologist and political economist whose work focuses on the history of ideas and how expert knowledge shapes politics and society today. His particular interests include neoliberalism, the science of happiness, distrust in experts and the present crisis of liberalism. Currently, he is a Professor in Political Economy and Co-Director of the Political Economy Research Centre at the University of London.Davies's work has appeared in The Guardian, The New Statesman, London Review of Books, New Left Review, openDemocracy, The New York Times, and The Atlantic. He has published five nonfiction books.Davies received his B.A. in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, his M.A. in Modern European Philosophy from the University of Essex, and his Ph.D. in Sociology from Goldsmiths University.
