If you asked Zenzi what she wanted to be when she grew up, you would not have heard the word author, but that is what she has been for most of her life. She began writing poems for fun in elementary school and just thought it was luck when one of her poems was published in a local children's anthology. Her love of story telling blossomed when her son Rafael was born and she wanted to find a creative way to share with him his family history. While the character in her book, The Never Snowy Christmas is inspired by her son, much of the antics found in the story are of her own imagining as she STILL wishes for snow on St. Thomas.Since debuting The Never Snowy Christmas in 2014, Zenzi has enjoyed the opportunities she has had to share this story with children not only in the US Virgin Islands but around the world. Just like the book showcases historic locations on St. Thomas, many of the characters are based on her loved ones, including her late grandmother Viola and late husband Aaron. Zenzi currently lives on St. Thomas with her son and reading The Never Snowy Christmas on Christmas Eve continues to be a part of their family tradition.
