đEPISODE NOTES đ
The Coronavirus outbreak is one of the best things that has ever happened to humanity.
Make sure you pay attention in the next minutes. This video is not your typical coronavirus conspiracy theory. It is based on scientific research, statistics, and historical facts, so watch and listen carefully. What you are about to witness will hopefully change the way you see and act in our world and help you start living a much better life.
Today is March 17th, 2020. Just a few months after the Coronavirus started spreading across China.
As of today, there have been nearly 200,000 cases and 8,000 deaths reported caused by the Covid-19 disease.
Businesses are closing down. Panicked people are emptying grocery stores. Thereâs a shortage in hospital beds and much needed medical supplies.
If you visit any news media website, youâll be bombarded with catchy headlines that make you click and read something which youâve already read a hundred times in the past few weeks. All of these articles will make you believe that the Coronavirus can potentially become the worst thing to happen to humanity since the beginning of history.
But is that really the case? Is Coronavirus the worst thing to happen to humanity or is it actually one of the best?
Letâs look at some facts.
FACT 1: WHATâS MORE DANGEROUS?
According to Stanford University researchers, the drastic measures enforced by China during the virus which lead to drastic decrease in the use of cars, have improved Chinaâs air quality to an extend which has already saved anywhere between 50 and 75,000 people from dying prematurely. This is twenty times more than the current reported deaths caused by the Coronavirus. The researcher adds that the cleaner air just for the past two months has saved the lives of up to 4,000 children under the age of 5. How many children in that age group has the Coronavirus affected? That number is close to zero.
And that is a fact.â
FACT 2: NATURAL SELECTION
We all know that in nature there is this great thing called natural selection. Nature makes sure that the strong survive, and the not so strong transition to make space and keep the balance.
If you donât believe that nature has its ways to balance things up, here are some statistical facts to hopefully get you on the same page.
During World War 2, approximately 3% of the worldâs population vanished. Much of that was male population and that created a huge gender imbalance. Less than 80 years later, the world is back to a 50/50 ratio with 101 males for every 100 females. How does this happen? Nobody can explain that but for some reason women started giving birth to more male babies and the balance was quickly restored.
The obvious fact here is that there is something bigger than us pulling the strings in the background to create balance and use the power of natural selection for the sake of long-term survival of species.
Homo sapiens however is the only weird animal that is standing in the way of natural selection. We are in a constant race to trick the natural laws and buy our ticket to longevity and even immortality. We are also helping those who cannot help themselves to survive and even thrive in our societies. Note that Iâm not arguing whether this is a good or a bad thing here. Iâm just stating the facts.
So, the constantly increasing lifespans have given us more precious time with our loved ones but have also had a massive side effect on the balance of our natural environment.
You can go online and see a live world population counter and see the increase every single second.
In 1804 there were 1 billion people on earth.
In 1987 â 5 billion
In 2011 â 7 billion
And we are expected to hit 10 billion by 2057.
In 70 years from 5 to 10 billion.
It is safe to say that people are spreading like a virus.
That sharp increase in population is pushing economies to find solutions to feed more people and to create housing for them. We create more animal farms which by the way are the biggest pollutant on the planet (bigger than all transportation combined), we build more factories, sell more cars, cut more forests, and destroy more natural land to do things the way they were done hundreds of years ago when the impact was much smaller.
But, what if nature doesnât like that? What if nature has its tools to prevent us from destroying our environment and ultimately ourselves? What if nature has decided to balance things out once again?
And many people would say â but how is that a good thing? Whereâs the benefit in people dying?
But if we take the emotional part out of the equation, if we were to pull the tragedy of losing precious human lives aside from the facts, weâll see that this is a shortsighted view of the problem. As with the previous example showing how the decrease in traffic saved more lives than the deaths caused by the Coronavirus, the same applies here. What if there are many more lives to be saved by naturally reducing the worldâs population and especially that part of the population who is more prone to getting sick due to a weakened immune system?
And if you think what the main causes of a weak immune system are, you would see that in most cases itâs closely connected to the way we eat. In 2016, approximately 40% of the worldâs adult population was overweight and 13% was obese. And things have gotten much worse since then.
Another major factor is physical activity â which relates back to the previous example of commuting.
Either way, modern medicine has allowed us to cheat natural selection for some time. It has allowed us to abuse food, alcohol, drugs, it has allowed us to lay on our couches and spend hours driving in our cars and still survive longer than most humans ever did back in the days.
But what if that is about to change? What if nature raises the bar for what it takes to actually be able to survive? What if by eliminating some of us, and especially those of us who do more damage to ourselves and to the environment, the system goes back to a better balance.
What if Survival instead of how good we look on Instagram photos becomes our primary motivation to start honoring both our health and the health of our planet. â
FACT 3: THE MODERN WORLD IS A PRISON
The third and final piece of my thesis is this â the modern world that we are living in is a prison. We believe that we are living in a world of freedom, free will, free choices but that couldnât be farther from the truth. Let me tell you why:
For starters, tomorrow the government can tell you that you are obliged to lock yourself at home and if you donât, you might get locked in prison for as long as they think makes sense. How is that for freedom?
People are also brainwashed into the American dream, and not just in America â owning a house is the biggest achievement for most people who dedicate their whole lives to be able to do that. What most donât understand is that you never really own that house. Even after you pay your mortgage working like a slave for 30 years, there are annual taxes, property insurance, maintenance, and other fees which can eat up a large portion of your monthly paycheck. So, no, you are not allowed to own that home ⌠ever. Try not paying your taxes for a few years and youâll see who comes knocking on your door to pick up the house keys. Howâs that for a dream?
And here is the other thing â we spend much of our lives in our expensive homes, in our cars commuting to work breathing poisonous air, and then in our dark cubicles sitting behind the computer screen. Not a big deal, right. Such is life. As a consequence, we donât spend nearly enough time being creative, taking care of our health, doing what we actually love and spending quality time with our families and children. Where is the quality of life in that?
While many people have been busy panicking, re-reading the news over and over, and buying all the toilet paper rolls available online and in the stores, some people started opening their eyes to some new possibilities. As we mentioned before, many countries started closing offices and people went back home to work remotely. What thousands of companies and millions of employees will realize is that things wonât get worse because of that. Iâm sure many firms will realize that there are massive benefits in that. For one â you donât need an expensive office for your team. You donât need to force people to spend their precious time behind the steering wheel. That is freedom. Thatâs an extra hour or two to your life every single day. What a gift, right? And that comes with massive side benefits.
People think that autonomous cars will reduce traffic. Thatâs not true. In fact, it will actually increase traffic because cars that are currently parked in our garages will be used in autonomous fleets to drive other people around like taxis. But if all of us start working from our own communities, weâll save hours every single day and weâll reduce transport-related pollution drastically. That will also lead to a massive increase in productivity and improvement in emotional health and quality of life. Imagine being able to spend an extra hour with your family or taking care of your health.
â
WE ARE THE VIRUS:
If the Covid-19 is a virus that spreads extremely fast and attacks the human body with a mission to destroy it, homo sapiens has become that same virus for our planet.
So, is it the Coronavirus or is it our own damaging behavior that has been destroying our health and our environment the most?
The Coronavirus outbreak is our chance to open our eyes to these facts. And I donât suggest we riot against the system. The system is not the issue. Our behaviors are. The system is simply supplying whatâs in demand. So, rioting wonât lead to much good.
Instead, I suggest we start building a new system which is based on quality of life instead of profit. Iâm dedicating my life to build new cities and communities that promote that one quality which has become absent in our modern world. I hope youâll join me on this journey. Itâs a journey that can make the difference between us surviving and vanishing from this world.
Letâs all rise up to the challenge together and do everything in our control to build a better world for ourselves and our children.
Respect, and Iâll see you in the next one.
