Recently, the EU and individual European countries have released Indo-Pacific strategies. But, while France has territories in our region and the UK and Netherlands have historic ties, what are they and other European nations seeking to achieve through engaging with the Indo-Pacific?

Katja Theodorakis, with German heritage and Europe expertise, is Head of Counterterrorism with the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI). Katja recently joined ASPI after several years working for a German think tank in Canberra, the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation.
