"Nipaat" is a Inupiaq and Greenlandic word meaning "sound" and the broadcasts' title was chosen to reflect the concept that this special coverage has a distinct "Inuit Sound" or "Inuit Voice" that speaks to Native people throughout the circumpolar region "2010 Inuit Nipaat Radio" is hosted and produced by Henriette Rasmussen, a well-known journalist in Greenland, who has also lived and worked in Barrow, Alaska, and is fluent in Greenlandic, Danish and English.
