In today's 21 News podcast, managing editor of news J. Breen Mitchell speaks with former and possibly future Presidential candidate and Transportation Secretary in the Biden administration, Pete Buttigieg.
Buttigieg talks about the American Jobs Plan and what would qualify as infrastructure in places like the Mahoning Valley. He says unlike the American Rescue Plan, which brought tens of millions to the area aimed at bringing communities "back from the brink" of the pandemic, this package would have much broader uses. If passed, Buttigieg says it would mean improvements to everything from the roads we drive on and the water we drink to technological advancements to help compete around the world.
But can the plan pass with a narrow majority or will it need to be scaled back to a leaner, more traditional infrastructure plan in order to bring Republicans on board?'
Listen up to hear how the U.S. Secretary of Transportation feels this bill will help the Valley.
